Church Life

Congregation Care and Outreach

Church family is very important to us at First Congregational Church. We strive to be aware of the needs of the overall church membership and friends as well as individual concerns and needs as they may arise.  Community needs outside of the church are important to us and we do our best to help when able. The Board of Deacons send care packages twice a year to the church's college students and military service members. Scholarships are available for members and friends of the church for post-secondary education.

Thursday Morning Breakfast

Join members and friends of the church for an hour of breakfast and fellowship each Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m. at State Street Café in downtown Geneseo. It is a relaxed way to start the day sharing in good conversation and food.

Sunday Morning Fellowship

Following the worship service there is a time of fellowship. Weather permitting, fellowsip is held outside on the west lawn. As the weather cools, fellowship is held in the Fellowship Hall.

Coffee, water and juice are provided, and usually a yummy treat or two.  All are invited.

Special Services

Special services are scheduled throughout the year for all interested in attending.  These may include an outdoor worship in the summer, a service to bless the animals, joint services with First Presbyterian Church, participating in community worship services, Lenten experiences, and Christmas Services. Who knows to what type of worship the service the Holy Spirit will lead us!

Day Trips

Periodically, there are day trips to local attractions and places of interest. Examples of past day trip destinations are Bishop Hill, Amana Colonies, Barnacopia, Mississippi River Lock & Dam, the Figge Museum, the Japanese Gardens and Circa 21 Dinner Theater.
